Maddalena Collini is a lawyer specialising in data law and data protection, and has been collaborating with Stefanelli & Stefanelli Law Firm since 2020.

Her practice focuses primarily on advising public bodies and companies operating in the life science sector, including healthcare facilities, medical device manufacturers, and organisations providing healthcare services.

On the advisory side, she assists clients in structuring GDPR and data law compliance programmes, implementing personal data management systems, and designing innovative initiatives and platforms in accordance with applicable regulations. She conducts audits on data protection compliance, and designs and delivers specialist training programmes for professionals and organisations on data governance topics.

She also has a specific focus — including in litigation — on data anonymisation and the legal assessment of re-identification risk.

She holds a law degree from the University of Trento, is certified as a trainer by the Italian Association of Trainers (AIF), and has obtained the Data Protection Officer certification issued by TÜV Italia.

Artificial Intelligence and data protection: a possible coexistence?

The aim of European legislation on AI is to ensure - as stated in the Explanatory Memorandum of the Proposal for a Regulation on AI - that 'European citizens can benefit from new technologies developed and operated in accordance with the values, fundamental rights and principles of the Union'.  Among these rights, the right to the protection of personal data certainly plays a primary role.

News for the opposition register. What fate for telemarketing?

On 13 April 2022, Presidential Decree no. 26 of 27 January 2022, which contains the regulation on the objections register, will come into force.
The decree regulates the right of individuals to object to the processing of their data for "the purpose of sending advertising or direct sales material, or for carrying out market research or commercial communication". The Decree will be operational from July 2022.
